Proper Disposal of Waste Equipment

Electrical and electronic equipment that is no longer used and is intended for disposal is considered waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). WEEE must not be disposed of with unsorted household waste. Instead, it must be collected separately and taken to an appropriate collection or take-back point in accordance with the applicable regulations in your country.

 

Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries

Batteries and rechargeable batteries that are not permanently integrated into the equipment and can be removed without causing damage must be removed from the equipment before disposal and disposed of separately.

Loose batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of together with other waste or household waste and must not be disposed of through unauthorized disposal channels. Instead, they must be taken to an appropriate battery collection or take-back point for proper recycling or disposal.

This requirement does not apply where the WEEE is prepared for reuse with the involvement of the competent public waste management authority.

 

Return Options

End users may return waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), batteries, and other applicable waste products through designated collection and take-back providers available in their respective country, in accordance with applicable national recycling legislation, including WEEE requirements, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations.

Retailers are generally required to provide suitable take-back options within a reasonable distance of the respective end user in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Free return is available in particular where a statutory take-back obligation applies, for example when the end user purchases a new piece of equipment of the same type that essentially performs the same functions.

 

Take-Back Obligations

Take-back obligations for WEEE, packaging, and batteries vary depending on the country and the applicable national legislation and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements.

Where applicable, manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers are required to fulfill their respective take-back and collection obligations in accordance with the applicable national legislation. The party responsible for placing the relevant products on the market may vary depending on the country and the applicable legal requirements.

End users should use the designated collection and take-back systems available in their respective country.

Waste electrical and electronic equipment may contain personal or other sensitive data, particularly equipment used in information and telecommunications technology. Before disposing of your equipment, please back up and delete all personal data and other confidential information before placing the equipment in a recycling bin. Hoymiles and its recycling partners are not responsible for any loss of files, personal data, or other information stored on the equipment.

Each end user is responsible for ensuring that their personal data and other confidential information are properly deleted before disposal.

Meaning of the Crossed-Out Wheeled Bin Symbol

The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol displayed on electrical and electronic equipment indicates that the equipment must not be disposed of with unsorted household waste at the end of its service life.

Instead, the equipment must be collected separately and sent for appropriate reuse, recycling or disposal through authorized collection and treatment channels.
